Main Biography
Mr. Atwood's practice is focused on construction law, the banking industry, and transportation/logistics. His construction practice involves all aspects from contract preparation and advice on day-to-day project issues through dispute resolution. His experience also includes arbitrating and litigating construction and design disputes involving delay, acceleration, inefficiency, and defective performance claims, as well as a broad range of construction lien claims and defective design claims. He has represented a variety of clients within the construction industry, including private and public entities, owners, general contractors and design professionals. He has represented municipalities and authorities in various defective performance settings, and contractors, design professionals and governmental agencies in procurement disputes. His banking industry practice includes issues involving title and lender liability defense along with commercial and residential foreclosures. He has represented a variety of clients from the banking industry as well as title insurance providers.
Previous Professional Experience
Mr. Atwood has worked in the construction industry in various capacities since the early 1970s. He obtained licensed Building Contractor status in 1984 and worked as a project manager on commercial and institutional projects in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. Mr. Atwood’s experience as a project manager in commercial construction, and now as a shareholder at Rogers Towers, has provided him with a wealth of experience in drafting construction-related agreements. After obtaining his J.D. with honors in 1997, he began his second career as a construction law attorney with Rogers Towers. Mr. Atwood became Board Certified in Construction Law in the Florida Bar’s inaugural class of 2005.
