On Friday, June 2, 2017, Governor Rick Scott signed an $83 billion state budget into law. However, he also vetoed $410 million in education and special legislative projects which included over $15.5 million earmarked for local and regional projects. Included within the list of vetoed items were the following projects:
- Nassau Council on Aging – Feeding Seniors $ 500,000
- Fresh Ministries/Fresh Path Program $ 500,000
- Town of Callahan’s Volunteer Fire Dept. Radios $ 40,000
- Nassau Co. Public Safety Training Center $ 500,000
- Clay County Public Safety Training Facility $1,000,000
- City of Flagler Beach WWT Plant Improvements $ 450,000
- City of Jax LaSalle St Pump Station Ph 1 $ 350,000
- Neptune Beach Fla. Blvd. Stormwater Culvert $ 400,000
- Penney Farms Water System Pipe Replacement $ 500,000
- Historic Spring Park Public Access to St. Johns $ 600,000
- CR 220 3R, RR & Safety Improvements $2,750,000
- Nassau Oaks Subdivision Road Improvements $ 250,000
- Port of Fernandina – Dock Crane & Warehouse $3,000,000
- City of Jax, Crosswalk Countdown Signal Heads $1,231,072
- DIA Downtown Street Light Improvements $1,400,000
- Hogan’s Creek Greenway $ 535,000
- Northbank Riverwalk $ 200,000
- Beaver Street Enterprise Center $ 400,000
- Riverside Arts Market Phase II $ 500,000
- Nassau County Courthouse Emergency Repair $ 300,000
- Flagler County Senior Judge Funding $ 52,000
- Flagler County Senior Judge Funding $ 100,000
While the Governor has convened a special Legislative Session to address a number of issues, it is appears that the vetoes of the projects listed above are final.
