JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – The law firm of Rogers Towers, P.A., specializing in over 45 practice areas, is proud to announce that one of its distinguished land use attorneys, Emily G. Pierce, was selected and served on Mayor Donna Deegan’s prestigious Transition Infrastructure Committee, Resilience Subcommittee, and was recently asked to serve on the Land Development Regulations Update Stakeholder Advisory Committee (LDR). These esteemed appointments reflect Mrs. Pierce’s exceptional legal acumen and expertise in the field of land use law, local government procurement and governmental relations, and they reinforce the City of Jacksonville’s commitment to enhancing its resilience.

As a significant figure in the Jacksonville legal community and department chair of Rogers Towers’ government and regulatory practice area, Emily G. Pierce has built a stellar reputation for her unwavering dedication to community development and her knowledge of comprehensive planning, zoning, concurrency, impact fees, exactions, permitting, negotiation of development agreements, and land use litigation. In her role on both committees, Mrs. Pierce brings invaluable insights and a fresh perspective to the city’s efforts to create a more resilient and sustainable future.

The Transition Infrastructure Committee, Resilience Subcommittee identified city-wide and unique challenges and collaborated with stakeholders to enhance Jacksonville’s resilience, density, efficiency, and community needs through comprehensive strategic planning. LDR will work with the City of Jacksonville’s Planning and Development Department to update the Land Development Code (including zoning code, subdivision regulations and flood plan management) to increase resilience to flood risk in the new and existing built environment, while increasing housing opportunities to accommodate growth. Mrs. Pierce’s legal expertise and commitment to promoting responsible land use practices make her an ideal addition to the LDR committee. She has played and will continue to play a crucial role in advising the city’s leadership on the legalities of land use, zoning, and urban development as part of the broader resilience plan.

On November 8, Emily G. Pierce will have the honor of addressing the public and city stakeholders at ADAPT: Achieving a Resilient Jacksonville at WJCT Studios in Jacksonville, Florida. She is poised to share insights on resilience planning and how her role as a land use attorney aligns with the city’s objectives. WJCT Public Media extends ADAPT invitations to all concerned citizens, professionals, and interested parties on its website, https://wjct.org/events.
