Rogers Towers is pleased to announce that L. Javan Grant , Timothy F. May , Amanda S. Parker , and Douglas H. Shaver have been promoted from associate positions to shareholders, effective Jan. 1, 2012. Additionally, J. Clay Meux, Jr. and Mark S. Mitchell recently joined as shareholders from other Jacksonville law firms.
A member of the firm for seven years, Grant practices in the areas of commercial litigation, tort litigation, real estate litigation and trials by civil jury. This includes premises liability and products liability litigation, business torts, coverage disputes, and landlord/tenant litigation. Grant received a Bachelor of Arts from Florida Southern College and law degree from Stetson College of Law.
May has practiced real estate law with Rogers Towers for the past seven years. His practice focuses on secured financial transactions and real estate acquisition, development and disposition. He holds Bachelor of Science, Master of Business Administration, and law degrees from the University of Memphis.
Parker focuses exclusively on the practice of construction law, representing developers, contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, governmental entities, homeowners and condominium associations in a variety of construction-related matters. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Georgia and law degree from Mercer University School of Law.
Shaver has been a member of the firm for the past five years, practicing in the areas of federal and state taxation, the creation, operation, and reorganization and disposition of partnerships, corporations and other business and professional entities, as well as general corporate matters. Shaver holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh, law degree from the University of Alabama and LLM taxation from the University of Florida.
Meux recently joined Rogers Towers from his previous law firm of Cooke & Meux, P.A. He practices in the areas of elder law, estate planning, wills and trusts, probate litigation and administration, guardianship litigation and administration, and real estate and commercial matters. He earned his a Bachelor of Arts from Jacksonville University and law degree from Stetson University.
Mitchell joined Rogers Towers after practicing with Akerman Senterfitt. His practice is focused on bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters, with particular emphasis on the representation of secured lenders in Chapter 7 and 11 proceedings, Chapter 7 and 11 trustees, and creditors committees. His experience also includes commercial litigation involving secured transactions, mortgage foreclosures, receiverships, and general creditors’ rights. Mitchell received his Bachelor of Arts from Samford University and law degree from the University of Arkansas.
